I’m honestly not sure how that applies to screen frames though. I don’t know if that would actually be considered a continuous signal. As for triple buffering it would appear its one of those very subjective issues.
I don’t like it because it makes camera control slow. This is most noticeable in first person games where you ARE the camera. Double buffer vsync can be almost unplayable for me. Some games vsync is fine because the input delay is masked by other things (gamepads, tera vertical sync slow 3rd person character animations), but there’s nothing to mask mouse input camera control. IF your monitor is 60hz and you’re getting more than 60 FPS, vSync will NOT reduce performance for ALL situations where the GPU is less than 100% utilized.
I turn Vsync on because in most D3D games tearing can get pretty nasty. Strangely though in OpenGL games it never seems that bad. My understanding had always been benchmark with Vsync off and play with it on. VSYNC ON. Strafing past textures with vertical lines (like a wood fence) is pure torture without vsync.
